A Day in the Full-Time Training
goal and purpose | ftt centers | day in ftta | letter to seniors | letter to yp
Rise & Clean (6:00 am)
After waking up at 6:00 a.m. every morning, we utilize the next thirty minutes to wash, groom, and dress. By 6:30 a.m., we begin corporately cleaning the house for a weekly inspection.
Breakfast (7:00 am)
At 7:00 a.m., we eat breakfast together in the LSM cafeteria. Breakfast preparation and clean-up is performed by assigned trainee service groups.
Morning Revival (7:25 am)
As a time to come freshly into the presence of the Lord early in the morning, morning revival gives us the opportunity to be nourished by the Word and revived through personal prayer. Whether spent individually or with companions, this time is crucial in developing a personal relationship with the Lord and establishing a healthy foundation for a daily walk in spirit.
Training Classes (7:55 am)
At 7:55 a.m., we take our seats and prepare for the daily infusion of the healthy teaching. Five mornings a week, Tuesday through Saturday, we attend classes. Classes are either an hour and fifteen minutes or an hour and a half in length. First-year trainees have seven classes weekly and second-year trainees have eight. First-year classes include: The Triune God and His Word, The Experience of Christ as Life, The Body of Christ, Life Practices, as well as lessons on The College Work and The Children and Students Work. Second-year classes include: The Body of Christ, The Experience of Christ as Life, A Life of Service, and The New Jerusalem. For four terms, all trainees participate in four joint classes: The Gospel and the God-Ordained Way, The Full Ministry of Christ, God’s Economy, and The Spirit. On Lord’s Day afternoon we also have a singing class where we enjoy singing in spirit in four-part harmony. The goal of this class is to prepare us to sing on college campuses and to make high quality song tapes for the saints to enjoy.
Lunch (11:30 am)
Those on the Community or Young People/Children’s teams remain for lunch in the cafeteria. Campus teams take sack lunches to their respective campuses.
Gospel Work (12:15 pm)
Before the beginning of each term we are given a choice among four areas of service: preaching the gospel on campuses, door-knocking in the community, shepherding junior high and high school young people, and caring for children. We are then assigned to serve on a team with other trainees. Those assigned to the Campus teams spend their afternoons on campus preaching the gospel or shepherding college students. Trainees on the Community team visit the homes of people in the nearby community to preach the gospel and shepherd those who are open. Trainees on the Young People’s teams visit the young people after school to help them develop their relationship with the Lord and assist them with any practical needs. On the Children’s team, trainees set up neighborhood children’s meetings to care for the children of the saints and those in their neighborhoods. Each day we also have an hour and a half for rest, either before or after our gospel work time.
Study/Greek Class (4:15 pm)
For each class we are assigned readings from crucial portions in the ministry which complement and provide the basis for the material covered in class. After rest time, most afternoons and some evenings are used for reading and reviewing class notes. During study time we read, pray over, PSRP, and enjoy this material individually or in groups. Study time affords a unique opportunity to be constituted daily with the ministry and the Word. Also, according to Brother Lee's desire, we are given the option of taking Greek twice a week. This two-year course begins every fall and is designed to enable those who complete it to begin reading the original Greek text of the New Testament.
Evening Activity (7:00 pm)
On the evenings that we are not studying, we enjoy meeting with the saints. On Tuesday we attend prayer meetings in the localities where we serve. Every Wednesday night, we attend the ministry meeting in Anaheim. In this meeting the Lord continues to speak the high truths to His recovery through the blending brothers. The videos of these meetings are recorded and sent out to the churches all over the earth. On either Thursday, Friday, or Saturday evening we attend a group meeting, a young people’s meeting or a children’s meeting, depending on our area of service.
House Prayer (10:00pm)
For fifteen minutes every evening, each house gathers together to enjoy the Lord. This time gives us an opportunity
to sing, fellowship, and pray with and for one another. This is a good time for those in a house to be built up together in spirit.
Sleep (10:30 pm)
Lights out is at 10:30 p.m. We rest in the Lord, restoring our strength for the new day ahead. |
